Thanks to a kind and generous donation from local company Solicitors Own Software (SOS) and AED Locator (E.U.) Ltd, the first Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) has been installed in the City of Bath at the Recreation Ground (known as The Rec).  The life-saving AED in its secure weatheproof HeartSafe® cabinet is located adjacent to the Clubhouse and changing rooms near the "riverside" entrance to The Rec - for Sat Nav users the post code is BA2 4DS.  The PAD is not only for the use of the Rugby Football Club players, staff, members and supporters, but also the surrounding community and nearby residents.

Pictured below is the cabinet and defibrillator being handed over outside The Rec.  From left to right - Graham Colbourne (Systems Director of SOS, Natalie Jennings and Paula McRobie (Managers from SOS) and Clive Setter (of AED Locator (E.U.) Ltd).

The equipment was donated in memory of Stephen Parry, a director of SOS director and regular supporter of Bath Rugby.  David McNamara, Managing Director of SOS, said "Stephen would be delighted that this device, designed for laypeople to use, is immediately on hand to help anyone nearby suffering a cardiac arrest."
Clive Setter, founder of AED Locator, said “Whilst this is a hugely positive step in the right direction for Bath, there is still much work to do.  We hope in the near future to facilitate the installation of as many Public Access Defibrillators as possible to protect the people of Bath and its visitors.  We hope to make AEDs as common place as fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and as equally accessible to everyone.”
