NOVEMBER 2010
The village of Blagdon in North Somerset has become the first community in the UK to have two Public Access Defibrillators in the village - the original one is located outside the Village Hall and a new second one is located at the other end of the village in a redundant Telephone Box.
In early 2009 Blagdon Parish Council decided to buy the old Telephone Box located opposite the village's Primary School, to house the village's second Public Access Defibrillator. The Parish Council organised and ran a number of events to raise funds for the purchase of this second defibrillator with its secure green HeartSafe® cabinet.
This new Public Access Defibrillator is now operational and is available for all villagers or passers-by to use in the event of an incident where, following a 999 call, the Emergency Services advise that the defibrillator may help to save the life of the patient whilst the ambulance is despatched to the scene.
This is the second Public Access Defibrillator to be located in Blagdon. The first one is located outside the Village Hall at the other end of this large village and was donated in 2008 by local company Setter & Lee Estate Agents who are based in the nearby village of Chew Magna.

Blagdon has 2 of the 29 Public Access Defibrillators that AED Locator (E.U.) Ltd has supplied and promoted in the North Somerset area of the UK. In addition to these, there are several other projects on-going to install more Public Access Defibrillators in other rural communities, sports clubs etc within North Somerset.
